Elvis Ebikade, PhD
Sustainability was personal for Elvis long before it was professional, beginning in Lagos and running through a PhD at the University of Delaware, where he developed catalytic technology, some of it patented, for converting food waste, agricultural residues, and other unconventional biomass into bio-based fuels and chemicals. His deep technical credibility comes from a background in chemical engineering, catalysis, biomass conversion, and waste valorization. From there he moved to the commercial side of sustainable fuel, where he has spent his career making sure good technology actually reaches the market.
He has worked the full SAF value chain from the inside: the chemical engineer and co-founder of Lignolix, an award-winning University of Delaware spinout that raised over $1M to commercialize lignin-to-materials technology from his doctoral research; the airline buyer structuring SAF offtake at Southwest; the strategy consultant at BCG and Earth Finance; Bioleum's Director of Strategic Market Development; and fluent across ISCC, RSB, CORSIA, and ReFuelEU sustainability standards and the ASTM specifications. That range is what lets him see where a project could actually break, and help fix it before a buyer or a lender does. He is a technical-commercial SAF leader: someone who understands the chemistry and cost drivers of fuel production, and translates that into airline contracts, policy arguments, investor narratives, and commercialization strategy.
His own focus bridges mature demand markets and emerging, production-advantaged ones: the strongest SAF economics increasingly sit where feedstock, land, and low-cost energy are, while the capital, customers, and price formation sit elsewhere. Working across both is where a project's real value and real risk are easiest to miss from one side alone.
That work is recognized across the field. He serves on the board of the Sustainable Aviation Futures North America Congress and on 4AIR's Customer Advisory Board, reviews for the Aviation Climate Taskforce, co-leads an Airlines for America SAF grants working group, and sits on ASTM Committee D02, the body behind the jet-fuel specifications. He holds two international patents and more than 500 research citations, and keynotes and chairs panels at the field's major venues.
He writes and speaks on what it takes to make sustainable aviation fuel projects bankable, and holds a simple conviction: the shift to sustainable fuel only works if it is built for people, not just for capital structures.
Through Vansam Advisory, he now brings that range to SAF producers and the investors and lenders behind them, helping build projects that are cost-competitive, financeable, and customer-ready.
